2024 Annual Report Shows Measurable Emission Reduction Results Across All Performance Programs

Austin, Texas -

The Texas Oil & Gas Association (TXOGA) today released a statement on the release of the Industry-Led Environmental Partnership’s 2024 Annual Report.

The report shows that the industry-led environmental partnership has made significant progress in reducing emissions across all performance programs, including a 60% reduction in methane emissions since 2011.

“This report is a testament to the industry’s commitment to environmental stewardship,” said TXOGA President Todd Staples. “We are proud of the progress we have made, and we are committed to continuing to work with our partners to reduce emissions and protect the environment.”

The Industry-Led Environmental Partnership is a collaboration between the oil and gas industry, state agencies, and environmental groups. The partnership was formed in 2013 to develop and implement strategies to reduce emissions from oil and gas operations.

The partnership’s 2024 Annual Report shows that the partnership has made significant progress in reducing emissions across all performance programs. Key findings from the report include:

  • A 60% reduction in methane emissions since 2011.
  • A 40% reduction in flaring since 2013.
  • A 20% reduction in volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions since 2011.

The report also highlights the partnership’s work to develop and implement new technologies and practices to reduce emissions. For example, the partnership has developed a new methane detection and mitigation program that is being used by operators across the state.

“The oil and gas industry is committed to protecting the environment,” said Staples. “We are proud of the progress we have made, and we are committed to continuing to work with our partners to reduce emissions and protect the environment.”
