Ford Issues Do Not Drive Advisory for Certain Vehicles

27 Fatalities Linked to Defective Parts

Ford announced a do not drive advisory for owners of certain vehicles due to a defective part that has been linked to 27 fatalities in the US. The recalled vehicles include Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury models.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has been investigating the issue since 2018 and has determined that the defective parts can cause the vehicles to stall or lose power, increasing the risk of a crash.

Contact Dealerships for Repairs

Ford has urged drivers with impacted vehicles to contact dealerships immediately for repairs. The company is providing free repairs for all affected vehicles, and drivers are advised to schedule an appointment as soon as possible.

The do not drive warning covers all unrepaired recalled Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles. The advisory was issued on Tuesday, and Ford has released a list of the affected vehicles on its website.

Ford and Mazda have also issued a warning to owners of more than 475,000 older vehicles in the US due to a separate defective part that can cause the vehicles to catch fire. The two companies have agreed to a $1.6 billion settlement to resolve claims related to the defective part.
